Ahhh Spring!...ok maybe not quite yet but soon!! Thank God!
So hey!! this is my first blog sorta lol. I figured I usually make notes in world and let everyone know how the grid is doing and so forth, so I thought...why not have a page for them to come to here on our own website...wow not bad, only took me 5 yrs to figure THAT out lol.
Anyways...lol....so how is everyone!
2019 is looking great for us in GCG which is really nice to see.
A lot of old faces returning as well, which is also really nice to see.
Ok so on to the Note!
Today I found out that many residents from IW is coming to GCG and trying to bring their .oars here...which is free to do btw.
But today i received this notice:
"Unfortunately a problem with the OARs was discovered today.
The last update to add OpenSim compatibility of nested objects actually broke that compatibility with non-objects (e.g. textures, sculpts, mesh).
So the second round of OARs I sent out was useless. I will need to recreate them again.
I'll send out another email with an updated download links when I have verified the corrected ones also work on OpenSim."
So if you find you're loading .oars rather here or any grid chances are thats why you're not seeing anything.
What happens though is the person who came from IW if their viewer is not cache cleared they will see it as though it did load.
Gotta love Computers!
Ok on to the next thing......
Free Housing in world.
Please by all means read the sign on the free housing area. Only one lot per avie and you must keep it under 600 prims.
Also remember to renew your rental sign each week or unfortunately your things will be removed. Thank you :)
What else....hmmm.....OH BIG NEWS....Tigerkitti Eberdene will be taking over our GCG SUN MAGAZINE in world
and I believe she is looking for volunteers to help out as well. She is also remodeling the GCG Media region.
Also...Thank you everyone for all your donations...it is always appreciated!
ummm....OH people have asked me time and time again..."WHAT IS WITH THE REGION LIMITS"
What they mean is why do they somtimes see that we only have like 20 regions left to purchase and then at times we have lots!
What is with that??
Ok I am going to explain the best I can here so grab a coffee lol:
A long time ago in a galaxy far far.........lol....no....BUT! a long time ago we once hit over 900 regions in GCG. It was GREAT! no it wasn't...it was hell!
lol...hey don't get me wrong I want everyone to live here!...but I am just one man...I run this entire operation. So we got too big too fast.
So now you're asking then why grow at all? right?...well no...I do want GCG to grow...I do want to see us at 1000 regions again...I do want GCG
to be the BEST GRID EVER!!!!!...ok that was my outside voice...but still, Yes I want GCG to flourish, of course I do...we all do.
I just want to do it slowly this time......now for my reasons WHY I want to do it slowly.
Well, first of all...I love getting to know each and every individual who comes to GCG...I really do. And everyone who has gotten the chance to know
me will tell you that...out of all the grid owners they have ever seen, they have never seen a grid owner that works with, plays with, dJ's for, attends parties, socializes, helps out and actually just sits and talk to everyone, like I do.
I actually consider my grid my home. Always have. So if I find that GCG is getting to big too fast, I'll slow it down so that I myself can have the time
to welcome those who are purchasing regions on our grid. To get to know those who are investing into our grid. To make sure they are settled and are just properly at ease, before I go to the next region owner. If I can't take the time to do this for everyone, I need to slow down the process. And to do that, I do it by slowing down the purchases or regions.
Does this mean that there will be no more regions to purchase later?...of course not!...it means Ok...thats enough...things are getting ahead of me, I need to make sure that Jim is ok and Nancy's boards work and someone lost an item so I need to help them find that...and and and.....and I need to DJ Monday Night! hehe...sorry thats a must! lol. But you get the point.
On the technical & business side of doing it slowly...it also helps the servers to adjust, I get enough money ahead to purchase the next server.
All this is what I have learned in the last 5 years of running and owning a grid and it works.
This is also why i believe GCG and everyone here is so nice. We don't push to be the best by making money or trying to sell the most regions.
We take our time to get to know one another and actually have fun doing it. I truly believe that is more important.
OK so that is my first NOTE online YAY! lol...If you have any questions feel free to IM me in world or email me at: firstname.lastname@example.org
Cheers! everyone! and I'll see you in world!
